Pneumothorax Support Group
A pneumothorax (or collapsed lung) is a medical emergency caused by the collapse of the lung within the chest cavity. It can result from: a penetrating chest wound, barotrauma to the lungs, spontaneously (most commonly in tall, slim young males who smoke), chronic lung pathologies including emphysema, asthma, acute infections, chronic infections (tuberculosis, cancer).
Hi, I'm not sure whether this group is still active. I'm new.
I had gone through twice pneumothorax surgery. First time, 10 years ago on my right side, and just 6 month ago, I went for the left side. 3 months ago I went for my regular check up and the doctor said i'm 99% healed and I'm ready to go for any flight (I'm a regular flier due to my job).
So in these 3 months after my last check up, I've done lots of flight and I'm feeling allright just until last week. I was doing my 2 hours flight to another city and I'm started to feel "not right". I feel air moving inside my lungs and there's pain in my chest. Few days later the pain and air disappear but there's pain on my shoulder and neck. And yesterday, I started to feel pain on my ex-surgery scars. The pain is still bearable, and I can still do my normal activiy without any problem.
Anyway I'm so desperate to see my doctor, but he's 30 minutes flight away. I might want to see him in the next few days as I still have jobs to do.
I'm terribly worry, I searched through and found this site. Does anyone here ever encounter the same problem?

I know you posted this a few months ago, but thought I'd reply anyway. As for me, I've had pain in the shoulder (an ache pretty high up) while the pneumo is healing. However, ever since my first pneumo (I've now had surgery and still have this), I have a dull ache on the side of my rib cage, which won't go away.
I hope that you're doing better now!
