Hello everyone, this passed Christmas I was diagnosed with bilateral severe streptococcal pneumonia where my chest x rays were a complete white out you could not even see ribs on the x ray that's how bad it was. Needless to say the small town hospital I had access to did not have the proper equipment to care for me as my one lung collapsed completely and had 30% function in the other I was given 3 hrs max to live. I was rushed to the u of a by stars ambulance where they immediately started a procedure called ecmo that saved my life. I was in CVCU for a week (was supposed to be in there for a month) than transferred to icu for a week and a bit where they had physiotherapists come in and help me try and walk and regain lung function (was bed ridden for almost 3 weeks so muscle deterioration was quite severe) I could barely take 3 steps without almost collapsing and having my oxygen level drop to around 81 which is not good... I went in Christmas day to the u of a and came home January 11th when I was supposed to be there for a few months minimum. The recovery is sucky but I just wanted to post my story and say if I can get through it so can you guys
