Pneumonia is an illness of the lungs and respiratory system in which the alveoli (microscopic air-filled sacs of the lung) become inflamed and flooded with fluid. Pneumonia can result from a variety of causes, including infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Typical symptoms associated with pneumonia include cough, chest pain, fever, and difficulty breathing.

Ive been diagnosed with early pneumonia both lungs. I read that its good to sleep on your side with the unaffected lung facing up. It opens it up to providing more air freely for the body. I dont have an unaffected lung. Unfortunately when I sleep on a side I hack and cough and have trouble breathing. When Im on my back I sleep much better. Hours between cough fits. BUT I read that sleeping on...

Every illness i've had in the last few years has turned into pneumonia. I've developed a serious case of freshers flu and am now worried I'll not only develop pneumonia again, but that it will be worse because I am away from my family and doctor's surgery.I suffer from asthma and take seretide day-to-day to manage it. I also take cetirizine hydrochloride to lower my allergy levels. The recent...

Good day everyone,My mother (64) was diagnosed with Pneumonia 4 weeks ago. She was hospitalized for two weeks. After week one she was moved to ICU due to irregular heart rate and high blood pressure. After 4 days she was moved to high care for a day, then to general medical ward for a day after which she was told that she can go home, with oxygen. After speaking to the specialist we were informed...

    How long to recovery

    2
I am 76 and got pneumonia for the first time in my life.  I've had flu shots and pneumonia shots.  I've finished my antibiotics but I don't feel any better.  The coughing stopped and I have no fever.  It's been two weeks.  How long does it take to feel better.  I am tired and weak all the time. Hi, I am currently living in South Korea and have just been diagnosed with 'early pneumonia". I can't quite get a grasp of what this is... I take it to mean the early stages of pneumonia. If that's so, can I expect it to get worse before it gets better? She gave me some pills and I should go back each day for an intramuscular antibiotic shots (jabs in the ass). Thanks for taking the time to read...

Last year in January 2014 I developed my first case of known pneumonia diagnose after a bout with the Flu. I say known because I have been sick many times with chest infections but never went for a x-ray. I thought okay my temperature has been over 102 for a solid week, starting at 104. I thought it was the Flu and it was, but sometime between getting sick and that week as it went on I developed...

    Can Pneumonia Start As Pain?

    2
Hi there. I've had two cases of pneumonia in the last 5 years (after a double pulmonary embolism. Not sure if they are related). Both cases have created pain in the same location: my right flank from my lower ribcage to my shoulder. Since then, I received a pneumonia vaccine. Anyway, the last two days, I've been having the same pain, which is getting closer to acute each time I breathe...
  • In February of this year I unfortunately came down with pneumonia and was rushed to the ER by my husband. The ER nurse explained to him that my Blood Oxygen was at 72, and if he had not gotten me in when he did I probably would not have made it through the weekend. The pneumonia had infected both lungs, upper and lower lobes and as soon as I walked in to the ER I was admitted. I was placed on...
