Considering a Facelift

I have thought about having a facelift for the last 5 years. I have decided I will do this but I still have many questions and concerns. I do not want to regret having this done my main concern is that I will look like I had work done, I will have noticeable scars. Going back and forth in my mind with these thoughts, I have decided that if I have the surgery and the outcome is not as good as I hoped, it still will be better than how I feel I look now. I am not happy with how I am aging, I don't want to look 30. I just want to age better than I am. No one in my family ages well! I feel overlooked at work because of my age. 


What I am hoping is that someone reading this has had a facelift done and can tell me what their experience has been. I also am hoping for some referals to surgeons. I live in Michigan and have been researching for years and have come to the conclusion that all surgeons say they specialize in facelifts yet they say this about every procedure. I know noone who has had a facelift so I can't ask real patients. It is so hard to determine who is a good surgeon.


Any advice is appreciated.

research and go to at least 3 different doctors. Also look on Real Self. Run from any Dr that doesn't present any possible downsizes of it.

I say don't do it. I did it and I am now in chronic pain. I went to a double certified plastic surgeon with 5 star ratings. Still he misled me and was over aggressive during surgery. This was supposed to be a quick short procedure called mini facelift. But it was enough to alter my appearance and cause tremendous trauma.

Please don't risk. You have only ONE face! No going back - save your money and take a nice vacation. Life is too short. Just enjoy. Attract ones who love you for you!

A friend of mine did a facelift following years of low self-confidence due to surgical procedures to treat cancer. She did this procedure successfully. I remember the first 10 days after the surgery were the worst in terms of how she looked. There was a lot of swelling initially but she had been told to expect that. She also had to wear a strap under her chin around the head for that, so going out wasn’t really an option until that phase had passed. But she was able to start socializing again 10 days after the surgery and I think recovery was easier than expected.

They gave proper instructions for how to reduce the pain and swelling, which definitely helped her a lot. Overall, the facelift surgery helped her a lot to boost her confidence and a long-term solution to combat signs of ageing.
So if you are considering such a procedure, go ahead. Pay attention to your body, that’s all I want to say.

You are considering a life-changing procedure for sure. Getting a surgical facelift is definitely a transforming experience. I have also thought about it for a while, but I only have minimal laxity, which I was able to previously fix with fillers. Right now I'm debating between a surgical facelift and a PDO threadlift. Both have their disadvantages and I'm not sure which direction to take either. One of my friends had a PDO threadlift done at this place (https://skinlyaesthetics.com) and the results were mixed. She had skin rippling and dimpling for almost 4 weeks and had to put a lot of effort into concealing it. She also felt sudden thread snaps for almost 5 weeks in her face. After about 2 months her face started looking normal again and I could appreciate the difference, which was not dramatic, but at least noticeable. I personally don't know anyone yet with surgical facelift.
