Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I know from reading that abusers move into relationships very very quickly. My ex has a girlfriend now and WOW is so underhandedly doing the hoover manuver and sucking her right on in. They have been dating since August. Amongst other small things he has talked her into leaving the Church she was established in. The newest thing is he talked her into having her custody changed to every other week split 50/50 with her ex. We curently do this with our son but he is 16. These kids are 6 and 10. She gave up her kids for a man she has known for 4 stinking months. WHAT ON EARTH????? Does she know her support money is gone now? Did she think this thru? All so he can have her to himself without little kids in the way. She is a kind intellegant human. I pray for her. I feel bad for her. BUT WAKE UP!! LOL!
So let's go thru the abuse list and name them. He is being bossy, possesive, has a history of abuse, making her dependent on him, isolating her, she has left friends, he is manipulating her.

Yep, a lot of us are intelligent people, but that has little to do with being preyed on by a master manipulator.
I think back to what I did, and gave up for my ex while I was in that terrible *brainwashed* state of mind. He always was asking if my son was planning on spending the night at a friend's, etc. He didn't want my kids around ~ it's all about catering the THEIR needs only.
I changed in some ways for my ex. Was it wrong for me? YES. Could anyone have deterred me at the time? Probably not.
I know it's frustrating, hang in there and hope that she'll snap out of the trance.
