Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
My psychiatrist said some very interesting things about my relationship with my ex-boyfriend.
She said the fact that he was allowed to get mad and argue, but I was NOT allowed to get mad and argue, made our relationship a master/slave relationship.
She said that he was the master that was constantly dangling a carrot in front of my face- making demands that I had to meet in order to have a relationship with him.
She said it's possible that he could have made demands for 5-10-15 years, we were only together one.
She said that after making all of these demands of me, that instead of being God's creation, that I would have been my ex's creation, with my ex being the master of me.
My ex was manipulative, devious, rude, condescending, flirtatious. She said do not bet the farm on a bad gamble.
He hurt me very badly. I have a feeling he could have hurt me more.
Why can't you trust people like my ex??

They are only capable of attempting to complete their wounded incompleteness with YOUR life energy. That makes them a vampire. They are done with you when they've used you up. When that happens, since they're still incomplete, tney move on to the next supply, their next reservoir of life energy.
That's why you can't trust them.
Mildred, I am glad you are out of the relationship and didn't waste years of your life. Take care of yourself and concentrate on your healing. (Hugs)
Its amazing what damage they can do in just one year though isn't it.....
I just want to tell you how proud I am of you to be in therapy for this and to have left him after only one year and trust me I understand the damage that can take place in one year. Damage already took place with mine in a period of 3 months with him being verbally abusive the first two weeks we met and you are right if you had stayed it would have only gotten 10 times worse..
So be proud of yourself for getting out when you did..Healing hugs if okay~ M~
