Verbally abusive marriage

hi, I have been dealing with an verbally abusive husband since 1994. We have 3 kids together. I don’t know how to get out. I have kept journals of all of the abuse for years. I have my flaws plenty of them, but a lot of it has to do with how he treats me. I could really use some advice, I feel eternally stuck.

Given the length of time that you have been involved yes it would seem that you are eternally stuck- but
the reality is you are not.The key is to seek counseling if you haven't- it is not an ideal situation
for children to be raised around.Hugs and Courage sent your way)

Thank you. My oldest daughter is heading off to college in sept and than I have an 11 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. I really do want to seek help, he questions everything I do so I am apprehensive about seeking help. I realize that in order to change the environment I need to be the one to take the step. I feel like this website and group is the first step and I am really hopeful it will guide me in the right direction, thank you for the encouragement.

Question for you?
Do you think your children have been affected by this? Was he ever verbally abusive to them? If you could change things now would you have left earlier?

I am asking because i am in a similar situation and my daughter is 3.

Yes he has put them down, but he thinks by putting them down is a way to make them strong his way is very wrong there have been lots of tears she’s. I would have left earlier for sure. I just don’t know how to get out of this because I think I it will just be as difficult as staying in it. I’m so sorry that your going through the similar situation my heart goes out to you because I know what it’s lime

I hope you find the strength and support to leave him - I am on a journey to do the same thing. I know you can't "just leave". I'm sorry I'm useless and don't have any advice but I hope everything gets better. You do not deserve what he is doing to you.
