Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I see that you are struggling, much like I am at the moment. So I went back to look at your original posts. OMG, sweetie, I cannot believe what you endured from this man. How absolutely horrific!! I wish I could reach out and hug you. My situation is nothing compared to what you endured. He sounds like a complete monster not to mention a------.
I read that you recently spent time talking to him. I know I am not really in a position to tell people how to handle themselves, but please know this. If you were my friend, sister, relative, co-worker, I would do anything I could to help you stay away from this man. He is no good!!! He is not. Please understand this. Please let him go for the sake of your own sanity.
You sound like a lovely, intelligent woman. He does not deserve you. I also had to move out of a nice home and leave pets (MY dog and cat) behind and am living in an apartment. I actually lost my dream...living on and running a farm. It's tough, really tough, I know. But please don't go back to this man.
Try to focus on 6 months or a year from now when some time has past. We are both go to be so much better off in the long run...I believe it...and I want you to as well.

A beautiful sentiment. One of the reasons I so love this board is the way people reach out to each other, even in the midst of their own pain. This post proves that you, too, are a lovely, intelligent woman, ltwist.
I want to read more of your posts Itwist....I will tomorrow---the fact that you reached out to me indicates that you too are strong and brave...you have empathy and compassion.
The others are correct---this board allows us to help one another and show the compassion and gratitude we have for people in a way that our SOs can not appreciate.

And yes, those two things you mentioned are huge. You can't change him and you are not responsible for his actions, including how he treats you. His actions don't say anything at all about you, they speak volumes about him.
