Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Since I opened my eyes to my abusive husband and learned about Narcissistic Personality Disorder and other PDs and all of the abuse that goes on in every imaginable type of relationship, I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe. I see those people out there in their marriages and families and I can't help but wonder what's really going on. And I go home and lock my door behind me. Still too afraid to mingle with others.
I'm trying to improve this because I feel I owe it to my kids and even to myself, but so far I haven't had much luck at all.
I am also struggling with mingling with others. And it is a shame because I want to travel more and have connections with others is this world. I guess you can say I fear the unknown because of my traumatic experiences. Sigh. I just hope things get better for me.
And I also hope things getter for you. Hugs. Hang in there.
After a string of unhealthy and usually abusive relationships and definitely 10 years of emotional abuse in my marriage, I've had it. The first therapist I saw after leaving my H was onto me immediately to start joining stuff to meet people (yoga, etc). I thought it sounded great but couldn't bring myself to do it. I think she was pushing too hard too fast.
I've also struggled to figure out if I'm introverted or extroverted. I think I'm a mix. I feel the need to connect with others (don't we all?) but too much social time/activities wears me out fast.
At this point in my life, I have not genuinely connected in what I feel is a close friendship in 20 years. I still have a friend I made 20 years ago but she lives 3 states away (maybe that's why I've maintained this friendship lol). I find it very difficult or impossible to connect with people the way I used to.
Thanks for posting, looks like there are several of us who love to shut our doors and crawl in our shells! Peace
I had a therapist who told me to keep reaching out. And I did. But eventually it lead me to more let downs and in some ways bitterness. I find that many people treat human beings like they are indispensable. And I refuse to allow myself to be used as someone or something to do when someone is bored or their regular people aren't around. I feel disgusted, hurt and angry with the experiences I have had with human beings. And the sad thing is that I want to have close relationships with others but I have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to human beings. The more I deal with them, the more I like cats and dogs. lol. Sigh. I wish I could get out and travel places without the fear that someone will hurt me. I feel like I am trapped without a way out.
