Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Some of us remember where we were the day Kennedy was shot. Some people alive today remember the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Only children don't know where they were or how they felt the morning of September 11th, 2001. The rest of us still feel sick or worse, at the memory of that tragic September day.
It was sparkling and blue, here on the east coast. The temperature at dawn was on the chilly side, a harbinger of the changing seasons.
Nothing could prepare us for the other changes about to come.
I was away from my TV set. I'd turned it off at 8:30 to exercise out of doors. When I returned, I never turned it on, as I showered, dressed and prepared to run errands. My husband called me at 10:10 and said: I suppose you're watching TV.
No --- I said. I've been occupied and am about to run errands.
And that's how I learned of the attacks. After he told me, I rushed to put on the news, and saw the footage of the crashing towers and the plane crash in Pennsylvania. I ran to the bathroom and vomited.
For part of that day, the terrorists had won. I was terrified. I had never before felt unsafe here in the land of the free. My world had changed.
Later that week, I was in Grand Central Station in New York City. There were flyers up with pictures and stories of the missing. So many were young people, in their twenties or early thirties. There was an image of a good looking young man taken at a family party. He was smiling broadly, his eyes sparkling. By then, we knew these people would never celebrate another holiday, another celebration, another party together with their loved ones.
Seven years later, I still feel nauseated, thinking back on that Tuesday morning.
I won't speculate in this forum about what has become better or worse, over the course of the last seven years.
I've regained my serenity most of the time, though I haven't been on a plane in almost six years.
My life was not effected in the short-term, as much as the lives of some people. I've progressed in my overall doings, for the most part.
As we remember the lives most effected by the trgedy of 9/11/01, my most genuine condolences to the families who lost people who were dear to them.
My genuine condolences to the others whose lives were effected in the months and years that followed. They're in the tens of thousands now.
We who live now. . . . . whatever our circumstances, whatever our strengths and weaknesses, whatever may be right or wrong on any particular day. . . . please live with a moment of gratitude, now and then, gratitude that we're here. Please live with a moment of faith, that things will lighten, will improve, will bring potential contentment, maybe joy.
My condolences to those who've lost whomever and whatever they treasured most. Your grief is my sorrow.
My apologies to any whom I've offended recently. I'm a human stumbling and bumbling along. Please forgive my trespasses.
My gratitude to those who share their thoughts and the precious moments of their lives, here on this board and in the circles that gather.
My best hopes, wishes and prayers to all who survive to endure and try again, despite all the odds.

Today is 9/11. Please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices and heroism which took place on that day. We forget that those same sacrifices were and are continuing to be made each and every single day...
I spent the first 22 years of my marriage being wed to the military. So I know first hand of the sacrifices families of who serve in our armed forces, as well as those families fo police & firefighters, make on a day in day out basis. They miss birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, the births of their children, even deaths of family/friends. Having to cancel vacations or cut them short. It's nothing to be called up & leave for emergencies in the middle of the night more than once a week.
For the military: Too many duty nights, sometimes every three days spent on base over night. Too many RONS (remain over nights out of town) to count. Too many TDYS (temporary duty orders that last from one week to months). All deployments, land & sea, which usually last up to 9 months in peace time, more during wars and conflicts, and carrier quals (out one week, in the next, then out the next, etc.). No way to start or continue a marriage. But tens of thousands of families live like this every day. Just so we can be free to live the way we choose and say what we think.
They have made it possible for me to say that I totally disagree with how our president has put our soldiers in jeopardy. I don't think the war is right. No war is. (just my humble opinion). BUT, even tho I don't believe in the war...
I DO BELIEVE IN OUR SOLDIERS and they have my UNDYING SUPPORT & GRATITUDE.
I also feel the same way about our police and firefighters. They are my unsung heroes, especially the volunteers. They all put their lives at risk & their sacrifice, & that of their families is rarely recognized. They all do this because they CHOOSE to and the volunteers accept no pay.
This is dedicated to all of our military, past, present & future as well as all of our police and firefighters and their families.
