Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
One of my moms cousins worked at WTC but lives in NJ.
She missed the train that morning and arrived in NYC shortly after the first plane hit. She said it looked like it was raining people.
How would you ever get that horrific image out of your head?
"Peace to the souls that have passed

Thanks Ilene.

I also ask that we remember all the brave first responders. Many of those who made it out are now dealing with debilitating and life threatening health issues.
Sending love & light to all....
I see the suffering in ourselves, in the people of the nations with whom we war, within other people around the world and I mourn. Even today, I mourn.
In memory...

My beautiful nan was watching this on sky news 11 years ago , she was a very healthy and active 90 year old......
after watching it all day she told us she didnt want to see another newspaper or tv news about it and that also she didnt want to live through another war....she had lived through 2.....
she went from a very active and intelligent 90 year old woman to literally nothing in the space of a month......she died on the 14th october 2001 ,just over a month after 9/11.....her son my uncle who had brought me up from a baby had lived with his mother , my nan all his life........he took his own life 3 months later......
so 9/11 affects me too but in a different way to everybody else........but i ALWAYS remember everyone who was affected....xx

Ilene your words a so eloquent. Thank you for your reflection.
I live in a corner of Pennsylvania that is home to many who commute to NYC. My county lost 18 people that day. Many of their survivors felt that they needed someplace to remember their loved ones.
There is a beautiful memorial to those Pennsylvanians as well as all those who lost their lives that day. It is called the Garden of Reflection. It is beautiful, soothing and healing. I take my children there every September 11th as well as other days during the year.
I've provided the link because I want to share this place with all of you.

and these events, use their loss

Yes! Beautifully written.
I am afraid of people who are from Afganistan. I am afraid of strange looking packages. I saw the smoke from the planes from where I live which is about 20 miles away, the smoke came into my neighborhood.
I don't like to deal with foreign people, although I know it is not nice, but I am afraid....and I am sorry to insult anyone here, but the whole thing even 11 years later is scarry...I know of course anyone foreign or not can do what they did (the shoe bomber was white), but still the thought still lingers in my mind...Don't mean to insult anyone.
we fear being hurt (again).
Those who hurt others
are not one "group" based on
ethnicity, race, gender, intelligence,
religion, socio-economic status,
education or any other obvious marker.
Those who hurt others are
sometimes (but this is a
small percentage) physiologically
mentally ill or (and this is the much
larger portion), emotionally DAMAGED.
That damage causes them to
be damaging to others.
Even this morning I woke
to news of people being
killed in the mid-East (not
Aghanistan) because of
ethnic violence. And inside
I cry, because the cycle of
violence seems to go on
and on.
We fear because we've been
hurt. It's natural.
On one end of the spectrum
of fear, is the option to take violent action.
On the other end of the spectrum of fear
is to withdraw and limit our actions.
Neither end of the spectrum is a place
that serves the spirit.
The enlightened ones
throughout the ages
have been proponents
of compassion and love.
Personally, I believe that
sometimes there's a time
for anger. Obviously I'm
not on the same plane
as the enlightened ones.
But I strive, as best as I'm
humanly able, to walk through
the world with as much
compassion, empathy
and love as I'm able to muster
on any given day.
Please don't fear or hate
one country's people, one
race, one religion, one class,
one anything.
Hold at a distance ---- for the
purpost of our own self-care ----
damaged people
who damage others.
(I got on a plane this year
for the first time in nearly
a decade. I'm glad I did
and would do it again
to get to a happy place.
I'm proud of myself that
I took my fear and set it
aside. I enjoyed my trip
and immediately wished
for another.)
Peace to all.
Hugs and
healing prayers.
