Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Self-care is the first step to virtually all healing.
Every adult is responsible for her or his own self-care. When that's missing from our individual choices, are life derails.
Attention to self is not the same as selfishness. Selfiishness excludes others. Self-care includes others in appropriate order and proportionate balance.
Self-care covers all aspects of self-nourishment and self-definition.
It certainly can be things like a long-awaited "day of beauty" at a spa.
It also means brushing your teeth and regular check-ups.
Self-care can mean a healthy life-style.
It can and should mean, healthy relationships.
Self-care can be fun.
Self-care can be tedious.
Self-care can be education.
Self-care can be the right job.
Self-care can be connection with spirit.
Self-care can be neglected, but will result in decreased success and satisfaction.
Self-care can be learned.
Self-care is essential.
Self-care is healing.
Treat yourself good emotionally by realizing you are only responsible for yourself and being as nice to you as you are to everyone else.
Treat yourself good physically by eating right, exercising and getting enough sleep.
Treat yourself good mentally by doing things you like to do - hobbies, travel, reading, being with friends.
Treat yourself good spiritually by feeling close to whatever higher being you believe in or just by feeling close to yourself.
