Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Just my opinion
Our fears have developed
to keep us safe and to
help us survive.
Perhaps your well-being
would be enhanced if
you take paricular notice
of your biggest fear.
I would not even listen to what he has said his therapist said. He is going to spin that to make himself sound better. I have never met a therapist who would make such a proclamation about the number of times you visit your family. That's got bs all over it. The next time he tried to give you a play by play of his therapy I suggest cutting him off and telling him that info is private just as your therapy info is private.
Also, my abusive ex husband has been in therapy for years and not changed one iota. My nickname for him (the polite one) is Mr. Critical, Cranky, and Controlling. My ex moved me to another state away from my family. By the time I left, almost 12 years later, he controlled my wardrobe and how I wore my hair. He had veto power over my friends and our son's friends.
I think most of us also wished that our abusers beat us. By escalating the abuse it crosses a line that many of us are not willing to tolerate. The subtlety of emotional abuse leaves scars as real as any beating.
And, I hope I'm not saying anything that upsets you or is out of line. Your husband just so reminds me of my ex.
And good for you for getting a therapist for yourself and for moving forward. Hugs to you hon.
(((((((HUGS)))))
Please consider the source on this. I have a little experience with it. I'm gonna have to scale the story a bit becasue of time constraints.
My H saw a Psycologist. He told him that I thought he was an alchoholic and addicted to porn. H comes home and says "I am not addicited to porn. My psych says my useage is normal AS LONG AS I am not buying it!?"
WTF? So as long s your not paying for it - it's not a problem! Haleluja!
You see - it's really hard to believe anything they say...half truths, lies, manipulations. we cant tell the difference...you know what I do now? I discount everything he says. I have been lied to too much to truct anything.
Grain of salt my dear...you know what you know. Hold on to your truth and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
big hugs!
Seawee
Good luck.
