I can recall on two separate occasions a definitive "smirk" from my ex. In the hindsight, I wonder if it was actually a glimpse of the evilness inside him.

First one occurred shortly after the meanness began. For those who don't know, I came out of a 3-month major depression. Things were good for a couple of weeks. Then, out of the blue, he because short and mean, pretty regularly...he became a totally different person. After my first failed attempt to talk things out, we stopped speaking for a few days. I finally approached him again and asked if we could talk...he said "I will not talk to you on Easter." OK...didn't know you were religious, but whatever. So I said to him we need to talk about living arrangements. I would like you to move back to the other house so that I can stay here. I wanted to do this because where we were living was much closer to my work, but still a haul of a commute. He turned and looked at me with this "smirk" I am talking about. It was kind of like, yay that's what you want, and now I will make sure you don't get it.

The other occurred after I moved out, but attempted to continue working with him at the farm. He (54) had this little chickee (30) coming to the farm, hot on his tail. I asked him what his intentions were with her. He claimed he did not know, he didn't think he wanted a relationship with her, he didn't know, no, I don't want a relationship with her...crazy talk, like he had no control over what happened with this girl. I told him then that I still had feelings for him. He snapped, well you should have told me that 6 months ago. Hmmm, I tried to. Anyway, an hour later he was getting ready to go running and wanted me to make sure the dog didn't follow him and I saw the "smirk" again. So did our mutual friend. She interpreted completely different...she thought it was a smile in regards to me telling him earlier that I still had feelings. I didn't see it that way. Looking back, I'm thinking it was another smirk...this time meaning you are still hooked on me and I'm going to hurt you again.

Well, sure enough he did. I had also told him that night that I was giving notice at my job, and that I was hesitant if he was thinking about entering a relationship with this young lady. I did give notice the next day. And the very next night he slept with the young lady. What an ass! And it gets better. When I confronted him about in not so many words said it was my fault. Something to the effect of I shouldn't have let the fox watch over the chicken coop...or something stupid like that.

OMG I should be so thankful this piece of shit is out of my life. Tomorrow I pick up my remaining belongs at the farmhouse. Then all that is left is suing him for the remaining money he owes me. That will actually be fun as I am a lawyer and representing myself. We have a clearly executed agreement that he cannot get out of.
