Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I dont mean to twist any posts to be about me and be selfish I just think its important for all of us to guage.
How do you know if your ex is really THAT far gone?

a rock and a hard place.
TwilightStar asks:
Is there any way to tell if your at risk?
Sadly, all abusers represent a risk.
It's like asking ---- how much arsenic will kill you?
Some small amount might make you sick but not kill you.
The same amount that won't kill one person will kill another,
based on weight, immune system, age, overall-strength. . . .
and on and one.
So which abuser is capable of deadly force?
Or ---- which abuser won't need to lift a finger
but is so mentally compelling that s/he can get
the victim to kill her/him-self?
Here's my gauge of danger:
If someone is hostile, manipulative and controlling -----
they're capable of anything or everything.
If someone says they love you and then treats you
with disrespect ------ they're not FOR you.
They're a DANGER to you.
If they say they love and then treat you with disrespect,
you're in a toxic contaminated polluted ugly dangerous place.
If you escape and get out of that place,
make yourself as secure as is humanly possible
for as long as is humanly possible.
I guess you pretty much have to treat it as you would
coming out of cancer surgery.
You implement agressive treatments.
Then you remain vigilant. You go for check ups.
Five years out, you begin to feel maybe you've
got it beat.
Perhaps it's the same after leaving an abusive relationship.
