Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
As many of you know, I did not put a lot of long, hard thought in my decision to leave my ex. When I met him, I thought he was amazing. I thought I had finally found the one. Less then two years in, I suffered from major depression. I got help (medication) and felt like my happy self again in short order. We enjoyed a few good weeks and then like a light switch, things went bad...really, really bad. He became a different man, angry, mean and nasty. There was not a thing I could do to find the man again I had fallen hard for. Talking went nowhere. Then when I told him I felt insignificant and ignored, he made sure that's how I continued to feel...ignored and insignificant. Without the benefit of this site and a good therapist, I was left to my own devices. Ultimately, I decided that if I didn't leave, I would lose my mind. So I left.
Anyway, the point of this post is not to rehash my history, but to share what I wrote in my journal in real time while I was living through the downfall of my relationship. I don't really free-flow write, but I do like to memorialize quotes that resonate with me.
I know several on here are struggling with the tough decision of whether to leave or not. I thought maybe I would share the quotes I copied down to possibly offer you hope and inspiration during this difficult time. Here are just a few of my favorites....

I'm so glad I kept these quotes. Today it gives me assurance that I did think things through to a certain extent. And it most definitely was my time to leave.

I needed that right now because I really want to go smack the shit out of my daughters father and just say "stay out of her life until you kearn how to be a dad". But since he hasn't figured it out in 19 years he never will. So we will continue on as he is no longer a factor in our lives.
You have been so incredibly strong...to take your daughter and yourself to an undisclosed location to get away from his ugliness. I'm very happy for you. Sorry, he's still a shitty dad, but my guess is he will always be. But, in the long run, it's his loss, really.
