Hi,

As you all know I went to the ER Sunday afternoon thinking I was having an endo flare. Well, I was given an antibiotic for an infection. And am apparently allergic to it. I didn't have any reaction for more than 24 hours ... after I had taken 3 doses.

I'm lucky to be alive.

I just wanted to let you all know that an allergic reaction to medication can take days to present itself. That's why I didn't connect the two. Yesterday I woke up with my top lip swollen and my nose and middle of face tingling. I called pharmacy and ER this morning after waking up the same way so they called in a new prescription.

I'm so glad to hear you're OK. We have to be very careful with allergic reactions - they can be deadly!

Please make note of the antibiotic, so be sure not to take it again.

My daughter suffers from multiple life-threatening food allergies since she was born. She's 8 now. It's VERY scary. We always carry her meds (Epipen, benadryl, inhaler) because usually reactions occur rather quickly and when they do, we have literally only minutes to treat her :(

So it's very interesting to hear that some reactions can take up to a few days.

Thank you for sharing...you most likely just saved more lives out there....

@notmyself, thank you. My daughter developed weird allergies when she was 17-18 and she carries inhaler and benedryl.

I have only ever been allergic to fish but have emailed my doctors so they can note my files.

It was very weird that it took so long for it to react like that ... thats why I kept taking it.

Food allergies are very scary.

All of the newer medications are so toxic that I believe we will be hearing more and more about these allergic reactions. I am hyper-allergic to many medications, so I know. I'm always asking people about their meds when they start getting sick or depressed, or otherwise unwell.
