Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

With regard to everything being a choice, yeah. That rubs me the wrong way too. But I have to say, I met with a counselor in a kind of "emergency" situation when I had a breakdown after a particularly rough legal battle with my ex-husband. He was tough and completely unsympathetic. He told me that everything that happened until that point had been my choice (marriage, having a child, having two more children, staying longer, etc.), but now I made a new choice and left and I was now free to make my life as I liked. He told me, simply: "Stop being a victim." I was actually pretty angry afterwards because a lot of the things that I went through during the divorce were definitely not my choice and I definitely *was* a victim. But in the long run, I have benefitted from thinking about my life choices as my own. It has made me much less likely to accept things I don't want. (I did that every day when I was married.) I still don't believe that *everything* is a choice, but that session turned out to be kind of empowering in the end.
Anyway, I digress. I think it's tough to choose someone without having a session or two first. This one sounds not bad, but maybe talk to a couple more and see what sort of impression the others give.
