Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Also practicing extreme self-care by doing any/all of the follwoing (not a complete list):
Journaling or free writing. Sometimes having a focus for a journal defeats the purpose of using journaling as a healing too.
Meditation
guided imagery
affirmations
getting enough sleep
eating well]
sitting in nature
exercise
doing things you enjoy
some form of art
laughter
honoring, accepting and feeling your feelings w/o judgment
Doing some/all of these things can help to reduce fear. But there is no easy answer.
Have you been evaluated for PTSD, anxiety disorder, etc.? Depending on a diagnosis, there are different modalities that will help.
You may have to try several before you find what works for you.
Besides the above mentioned, the best gift you can give yourself is allowing whatever time and modalities necessary to heal.

Do it however you're most comfortable. I really hope it helps you. Coming on here has really helped me. I appreciate each person I interact with so much. They are so supportive and so informative, and offer such varying perspectives on everything.
I don't think I need therapy because this was a very short encounter that only lasted for a few weeks.

Relationships don't have
to be long term to cause
on-going injury. Trauma
lasting a few minutes can
leave life-long effects.
Further. . . . . you authored
a thread asking for techniques
for overcoming fear after
"experiencing a psychopath."
And finally, you ended the
reply above, saying:
I just don't want fear to have the lead role in my life.
If you find yourself now
living with fear at the
forefront of your day-to-day
emotional experience, it
may be likely that you're
dealing with some level
of post traumatic stress.
There are lots of useful
techniques and I hope
that what you find here
provides support and
healing.
But. . . . if you got into
poison ivy, and the
rash was very itchy
and effecting your
day-to-day life, but
it wasn't totally disabling. . . .
would you decide that
you wouldn't go get
medical treatment
and instead try to deal
with it on your own, even
though clinical help was
available (and a shot of
cortisone would clear
the rash up in short
order)?
(Granted. . . . therapy
doesn't generally work
overnight. But it can
and does provide relief
over a reasonable period
of time.)
I hope you'll reconsider
counseling, therapy or
other healing modalities.
The length of time
invested can have
an impact on how
badly we come out
of an encounter,
but the intensity
also factors in.
It sounds like
your few-weeks
relationship
left you seriously
effected. If that's
the case, your
present and
future well-being
will be much
better if you take
all the steps
available to
treat the injuries
the psychopath
inflicted.
Take good care.
Sending you hugs
and wishes for
healing and
happiness.
That would scare me that i choose so wrongly
Especially if he is a physchopath. My ex was
Bad enough with things i did not see.
