Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Hello everyone,
I am 26 years old and I live with my mom and stepfather because of health issues. In this time which has been a long time. I have and especially mom emotionally abused by my stepdad. He has very strict unnecessary rules.
1. He expects us not to leave the house until 3pm and return by 9pm.
2. We have to let him know where we are all the time.
3. He sucks my mom for money.
4. She is 18 years older than my step dad and he expects her to keep working to pay off the cars and the taxes due to the IRS. She is a CNA and she is almost 60 years old. She pays the majority of the bills and he cant pay his share of the bills right such as utilities and land and house payment. My mom has to help him. :(
5. He expects me to cook and clean up after everyone even though I am really ill.
6. He wont listen to reason.
7. Does drugs and alcohol.
We are hoping to get out but saving money is going to be the hard part. I think enough is enough I just hope my mom doesn't change her mind. Do you think that I am being crazy to want to leave? I believe in forgiveness but this has been going on for a long time.

I am so sorry for your pain and for your situation. Welcome to our group...we are here for you.
A large part might be jealousy of the attention you deserve as you are ill. Jealousy can manifest in many strange ways.
You are definitely not crazy wanting to leave. Please never doubt that. As Lacie says, forgiveness doesn't mean tolerating things.

I think you are very smart to spot and want to leave abuse. I hope that your mom recognizes and wants to leave too. If not, I strongly encourage you to find a way to leave on your own. I wish you strength. HUGS
