Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
When I was younger I was physically abused by my mother leading to temporary seizures, which led to a broken jaw and lip damage, which I carry to this day. After age four the physical attacks stopped but restarted early teens. Since I was a child I remember my mothers verbal assault on me all the time. Recently in a job that I had been in for about 8 months the stress of the job got to me and I had to take a week of medical leave, or jump off a bridge. Anyhow I went back to work and my only reasoning for the company treating me poorly was also around this time their stress levels went up as well. My boss and wife, the office $#%@ I mean manager, were verbally assaulting. My mental health team at this time said I was depressed and I was going to lose my job if I didnt straighten up. However I now see that as wrong!
Also since May when the stress began I have not been able to sleep. I have trouble in therapy. I cry when I have to talk about it. I was fired in an outrage of anger by my boss several weeks ago, yet despite me recording the conversation, they say I quit. They have sent me several threatening letters, none of which I can really use against them. My hands shake when I have to recount the story. I thought when I lost the job I would be better off, I am not. My sleep is just as bad, if not worse.
Could I be inserting my mother into the story? Also in 2005 I was diagnosed with PTSD, could that be something that is wrong with me? I dont know, I am just looking for answers. Anything would help, thanks.

I think that the abuse earlier in my life set the stage for me putting up with this later. Now...I would NEVER, NEVER put up with anyone that is verbally abusive in workplace. Have you contacted an attorney? Sounds like a very hostile work environment.
I'm new here, so I don't if this is the wrong thing to say, but is it possible that getting out there (however it happened) was a blessing in disguise? Like KPTOO said, it does sound like a hostile work environment, and I don't think you could have changed that no matter what you did, IMHO.
Have you tried contacting you local Dept. of Labor? If you have a recording of them firing you, maybe that will help you get unemployment?
