Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Ok, so I have been having a really down day. Teary when I woke, teary when I came home tonight...blah, blah, blah. You get the point.
I get home and peruse FB (yes, I understand it is by some considered a deadly sin...and one of my resolutions is to get off of it...hence the last minute perusing). I find a former acquaintance from the farm. Young girl, trying to save ALL the horses and dogs in the world on a pentence, recently diagnosed with cancer, scattered, but a good person at heart. She is having difficulty riding a "rescue" that was formerly abused. I responded to her post with some workable suggestions and ended by saying that the horse was "trained to be scared" and "unfortunately that's what he knows."
And, this may seem really selfish and I apologize, but when I wrote those words I felt immediately satisfaction in my situation. Thank goodness I left before I had been "trained."
I also finally realized my real disconnect is how did I know and have the ability to save myself at an early stage yet I still feel, I don't know, for lack of a better word, undeserving, unnoticed?

I found myself seeing similarities bw our cat's behavior and my H recently too.
There's a lot to be said for your realization that you got out before the training stage....
