Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Pasted in from today's Wolf's Daily Howl:
In the U.S., the Memorial Day Celebration commemorates fallen service men and women. I talked a little about that yesterday.
Today I want to talk about a long weekend holiday means to emotionally and physically battered women.
It means danger.
It means pain.
It means a higher risk of injury.
It means a greater chance of emotional trauma.
For women in an abusive partnership, long weekends are no picnic.
During a normal week, abusers expend the bulk of their energy at work.
Weekends are a time when their energy is available to them, to abuse.
Victims long for Monday mornings.
On long holiday weekends, vicims wake up Monday morning, knowing that
today could be special, but not in a good way.
Speaking for myself, back when. . . . .
back when I lived in an emotionally abusive marriage. . . . .
I didn't look forward to weekends and
I DREADED long holiday weekends.
Back when I lived in an emotionally abusive marriage
I longed for Monday mornings, and on holiday weekends,
I prayed for Tuesday mornings.
We did not "celebrate," long holiday weekends.
The extra day we had, we did not enjoy ourselves.
Enjoyment was not in his vocabulary.
Enjoyment was not part of the contract.
I was happy to get to the end of long weekends.
I was relieved.
I'm not saying my life was endangered.
I'm saying that my life was devalued.
Now ------
long away from those times, long away from the devaluation,
long away from the pain . . . . . . . . .
I delight in the extra day off. I delight in the lovely spring day.
I delight in the relaxation. I revel in the enjoyment.
Life away from abuse is ssssoooooooooooooooooo much better.
If you're in abuse, please know that there are other ways to live.
Life away from abuse is ssssoooooooooooooooooo much better!!!!!!!!!!
I hope all who read this enjoy their long weekend.

Excellent post. I would add: as abuse survivors we are veterans of domestic war and suffer from PTSD just like soldiers. I salute all of the strong men and women who have escaped and survived abuse at the hand(s) of someone who claimed to love them. I also salute those still in captivity of abuse and pray for their release and/or escape to freedom. Life in peace and freedom is absolutely...priceless.

I also do not look forward to long weekends or holidays in general; thought it was just mine who acted ten times worse around holidays and celebrations of any kind. I soooooooo look forward to being able to enjoy relaxing days off again!! Thanks for posting this! Have a great weekend ladies.
