Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I haven't been on here for a while. I left my abuser when our son was 14 years old. He is now 18 and about to graduate high school. I see depression signs and he doesn't seem to appreciate anything. He was always very very kind and loving to me and we had a great relationship.....however I can't tell if this is normal teen stuff or if he is repeating the abuse cycle he lived in. For example he would join me in little trips to the store or for a walk. The other day I asked him to go with me for a very quick trip to the store. He didn't want to so I was kidding wtih him, "you know we always have fun!" and his come back was, "that's a lie" and it was filled with venom. Not sure what to make of it. I don't want to be paranoid that he will be abusive but I don't want to ignore that possiblity either. SO....all that to say......has anyone been thru this and is this a normal thing or am I seeing the beginning of repeating his dad.....whom he dislikes.....?
