Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I bet you were never so proud of yourself.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish you many, many happy and joyous years with your new guy!!!.
No one deserves it more than you.

Eleven years ago
July Fourth fell on
a Thursday, same
as it did this year.
I was working in a
senior center, and
was required to
work, the Friday
after the holiday.
I waited till the day
after the Fourth so
I could enjoy my
holiday, and then
have the weekend
to recover from the
big announcement.
I wasn't sure how
things would come
down nor, how I'd
feel.
The day after, I was
profoundly relieved
and also, intensely
exhilarated.
We were already
separated at that
point. On Monday
morning, I found
that he'd dropped
off a letter in my
mailbox, on his
way to work.
As many abusers
about to lose their
victims do ---- he
apologized over
and over again
for all the abuse,
including a specific
reference to the one
time he had hit me.
The letter was his
desperate attempt
to keep me from
filing for divorce. . . . .
never mind that he
had ignored every
attempt I'd made to
get him to get help.
He came to regret
writing that desperate
letter. When we were
deep into divorce proceedings,
I used that letter in court to
document that there had
been constant emotional
abuse, as well as an
instance of physical
battery. It showed
there had been
abuse, by his own
signed admission.
The divorce process was
NOT EASY.
But I had hired a great
lawyer, and emerged
from the divorce with
a handful of years of
alimony ------
enormous satisfaction
------ and my
DELICIOUS FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Divorcing my abuser,
doing the work of
RECOVERY,
and
MOVING ON. . . . . . . .
SAVED my life,
my spirit,
my sanity
and
my SOUL.
DON'T SETTLE
for life
in the
HOUSE OF ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And thanks for being, and always being, so supportive here! Your story inspires.
Glad you have a nice relationship now, and especially freedom.
