Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I dated a man for 10 years, married for 3 and decided to get a divorce. Long story short - I started going to therapy cause I had bad anxiety. Therapy was doing wonders for me and helping me in so many ways. My Ex did not like it and said I was being brainwashed after I was going for awhile and started to call him out on his behavior more. He had mood swings, and i later found out i was being emotional abused and that it had really been going on for years and never understood it. He always made me feel bad for not pleasing him and doing things I wanted to do on my own. In the end he gave me silent treatment after I had our son because i wasn't comfortable having sex with him one day when our son was in the room and he had just split over my bottle of water. I knew he was being immature and I waited for him to come around and see what he was doing. I didn't give in t his time and say I was sorry and since that time things were never the same. he tells me i am crazy and he was just depressed and it wasn't about me but I know its a bunch of crap. Anyway. i am trying to do joint custody with him. He continues to say things and I have gone to my lawyer several times and they have continued to talk to him so today he again says to my son as he is picking him up - my son is whining - "come on.. this is what mommy wants not what daddy wants, this is what mommy wants.." I usually keep my mouth shut and tell my lawyer who talks o his and then he is quiet for a while and slowly it starts again.. This time I said "No its not i don't want to be with you i want to be with my son!" His face after i said that was awful. now i am nervous about how he will treat me more going through all this. he is awful and says things like this all the time. "you did not try you just gave up on me i can't believe you did this messed up your family going to ruin your sons life."I know he isn't right but it hurts at times but more than hurt - just can't stand to be talked to this way and makes me anxious as always to what he will say each time I need to pick up my son..
I try to reduce contact as much as possible. however he is a teacher and he is home for the Summer. Instead of daycare, he will be staying with his Father during the days. So I will end up seeing him more.
He is just so miserable. When I have to go to the lawyers about him and threaten to take my son for Full custody. I feel awful.
