I LOVE that song and was such a big Whitney fan back in the 80's. I was so sad to hear of her passing.

I know she has had trouble with drugs and a "troubled marriage" throughout the years. But I don't know many details. Was her marriage to Bobbie Brown an abusive one? Does anyone know?

I thought about her all day yesterday after hearing the news.
It's so sad. She didn't even make it to 50. I'm not sure if her husband was abusive towards her, but I wouldn't doubt it. I do know she struggled with serious addiction for many years leading up to her death. This to me is another example of how many people enable addicts, by participating with them in their addiction, like her husband, i suspect, by ignoring the obvious signs, like the producers and agents, or even worse still, catering to her addiction as many do concerning famous people, and by covering up the physical signs like the makeup artists and plastic surgeons. I think most everyone has a part to contribute in enabling her and other celebrity addicts and addicts in general. It just infuriates me that this was allowed to happen. Even with all of her money and access to the best doctors and rehab centers, she was allowed to self destruct.
And yes she had a responsibility to herself, to take care of and love herself and to get help. but the reality of the matter is, most addicts don't seek help. They have to be forced into it, and even then they often revert back to their addiction. Yes her life and her well being was her responsibility but she had a lot of help in maintaining the facade.

When I heard that Whitney Houston passed away. My first thought is that she "just wanted the pain to stop"! Whitney Houston self medicated with prescription drugs and alcohol. Yes she was abused by Bobby Brown. Abused and betrayed by someone she loved so deep. Maybe she took numbing out a little to far. But whatever the autopsy shows, whatever the reports and rumors turn out. I do know this. I fell in love with Whitney Houston the first time I ever heard her sing. I still cry to "I will always love you"! I hope that Dolly will allow them to mark that on her grave. RIP Whitney!
