Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

From being a pre-teen all the way into young adulthood, I was emotionally abused by my stepmother and father (sometimes it got physical). I got away from that and want very little to do with either of them now.
I am now married, for almost 4 years, with a 2 year old. My husband has the tendency to be really mean to me - calling me names, putting me down, and making me feel worthless. it takes absolutely nothing to set him off. I walk around in fear every day that I am going to say something to him and just set him off.
I have lots of examples, but I don't want to necessarily put them all out here because this post might get way too long. (sometimes I've had a tendency to do that). Maybe I'll just give 2 or 3...
Several weeks ago, we were planning to have some of my friends over to our new house for dinner. He leaves me to do all the cleaning, preparation, grocery shopping, all while watching our 2 year old (who is the best kid in the world!) He came home from whatever activity he had been doing that day within 1.5 hours or so of them getting there. There was still a ton of work to get done and I was feeling very stressed. I was trying to ask for his help, then he just totally lost it. He turned all red in the face, started screaming at me at the top of his lungs, then started throwing things. I was absolutely terrified. He had never acted that way in the past. He then said "I don't care about your friends." Then went and did his own thing, and sat on the couch, while I still did all the work. Of course, he was the perfect host when they got there.
I work a full time job in addition to all of this, so naturally I am exhausted at the end of the day. the other night, I fell asleep early with my son. He came into the room at 10:00 and started griping at me to get up and clean because the house is a mess. I looked at him like he was crazy adn went back to sleep. He came in a few minutes later and asked me what the hell I was still doing in bed, then GET UP AND CLEAN!
I am truly sick and tired of taking this. Is this abuse and does anyone have any advice?

I am new to this whole community thing, but not new to the abuse. He IS abusing you. Someone that loves you would not treat you that way. Would you speak or do things like that to your son, no matter what is age? I don't think so. You probably do love your husband, despite everything that he does or has done to you, but would you wake him up and demand that he clean the house if he was exhausted? Nope. Probably not. I don't know you, but I do know that God did not intend for his children (and mean you, me and the rest of abused women out there) to be treated that way. I don't know you, but if you ever need to talk, I am here. I know how you are hurting. I was and am still there.
