Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Sympathy and empathy are what kept me in my marriage ot my exh who was an alcoholic too. He had been severely abused by his parents who were both alcoholics. i naievely believed i could love him into sobriety. i ttook many years and much hurt and pain before I realized that there was nothing I could do for him. Only he could save himself. He disappeared after he left us. As far as I know he's still alive and still drinking and sick. I often scan the faces of the homeless for him. I hope and pray that he will get help but I too have had to let go. What is really sad is that he abandoned our daughter. My heart breaks for her but I know that had he stayed her life would not have been good and she would have grown up believing that being abused or being abusive was normal and acceptable.
Please consider taking him back to court for supervised visitation. he is endangering her when he drinks and drives with her in his car. He is endangering her when he gets drunk in front of her because he can't take care of her properly or protect her when he is drunk. As much as I understand your feelingsa of empathy for him, try to stay focused on the well being of your daughter when she is with him. That is your most important priority.
It is a bit complicated about why I don't take him to court, but I will only allow him to visit her at home from now on. I should have been doing that in the first place. But I thought he was serious, well I know at the moment he was serious about it, but the alcohol always calls and he answers every time.
So I am just going to allow him to visit her at home when I am around only.
Thank you guys. Really puts it in perspective when others are telling you things.
