Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

I had to do the same sort of thing when i set out in the world after 16 years of "don't bother me, daddy's drinking/mommy has a headache" so just make lists of what you WANT to do, and get into the routine of looking stuff up.
