Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

It is a very slow process from my experience, but possible.
I got sober and did work on my PTSD. That did a lot to level me out, build myself back up and being to allow others into my world.
DeliAnnem, what type of things did you do to build yourself up?
I did family of origin work to understand that I am last in a line of toxic and dysfunctional relationships. I am NOT bad. I am NOT what my dad said I was. I AM worthy of good things.
I discovered that my parents got they way they are due to THEIR parents. It's not genetic, but hereditary. SO....
The self esteem (or lack thereof) was not TRUTH... I was able to rebuild myself once I understood that I did NOT have to be the image my father carved out for me.
It's deep, I know. But I went away to a week retreat and I basically got years worth of therapy in a 5 day breakout session. I HIGHLY recommend it. It changed my life.
