i am so happy for you - i can't even imagine the relief you must be feeling. congratulations for being patient, loving, and brave to do what you needed to do, despite the impact it had on the short term.

Thank you so much for sharing my joy!!! It always seemed surreal to me that my son, in particular, would have behaved this way. We always has such a close and loving bond.

Now I get a chance to have him back in my life and I cannot tell you how overwhelmed with joy I am!!

I'm happy for you! He knows you love him regardless of his dad's influence.
Underneath all of the strife they give us they do know who they can count on when they need comfort and are in pain. Kids do know who loves them(mom) and it does get better as they grow up and take on more responsibility. It's just getting past the terrible twos and the terribler teens and in your case an ex that acts like a terrible two year old, that takes patience.

My dad was abusive towards my mom and for some years during my teens I resented her... As I matured, I began to see for myself the pain that she went through and strength she had for leaving him. Now I regret ever looking down at my mom and for ever making her feel like a bad mother. I regret ever making her feel I was abandoning her. I love her a lot and respect her with all my heart.

I am happy to hear your son has come around. He is an intelligent young man and over time he will come to understand your pain and love. I know it does not make it any easier but as you continue to put in effort to be a part of his life, keep in mind that nothing you do will go to waste. His brain is like a sponge and will absorb every little thing you bestow upon him and sooner or later his mental capacity will also mature to appreciate fully what you mean to him. All you can do is continue to love him, and already he knows. :)

Oh I so know how you feel. I left my husband 6 months ago and both my 21 and 25 year old sons live with him. He has been saying unpleasant things about me which they tell me. I sometimes feel like I'm losing them, but today our eldest son told me about problems in his life that he felt unable to tell his father! I felt amazing. My son still confides in me and it's wonderful. So happy for you, sounds like a great kid you have raised.

Katherine, I hope that your relationship with your son goes from strength to strength. This is a huge breakthrough for you both!

Such great news. I am SO happy for you. I have read your posts, your desperation and pain at the alienation of your children, and I can't tell you how happy I am to read this one.

I'm sorry for your son's injury, but I'm very VERY glad it made him realise who he really needs in his life, who he knows he can turn to.

My kids asked me to get rid of their father so at the moment I have their full support (they are 10 and 12). I cant imagine what you must have gone thru in the last 7 months and I am so glad you have received your silver lining and your "love you mom". I hope its all positive for you from here on in.
