Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
It's not that I walk around thinking about the many forms of abuse I suffered as a child, because I don't. I honestly feel I've dealt with most of the "facts" of what happened to me, I have forgiven some (not others, not my job, I'm okay with that, I don't harbour hatred or anything). The problem for me is that I am reactionary, I have ptsd, I am easily triggered & often feel like I'm 6 years old even though I am decades older than that. I'm not sure how to change that part. I am accepted into a program for women survivors of abuse who have had therapy etc in the past & are wanting to deal with the residue. I am cautiously optimistic. The program is going to be very intense, the first 8 weeks are once a week for a couple of hours, & then 8 weeks of 9-2 every weekday. I'm hoping to do it all over the summer because I can't afford to be off work longer than that (not that I really work now, this is part of my issue).
What have you tried as far as helping yourself? Did you find it useful?
