Got all the proof I need... Feeling relieved

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I tried to stay friends with my abuser, per his request... but he refused to respect my personal boundaries and continued to try to control my life. He then made it clear that he was expecting for me to eventually take him back. I told him I felt we could no longer be friends, because I refused to be sucked back into the relationship... I wasn't sure if it was the best decision, because I still felt sorry for him... then I received a series of threatening text messages that actually put my mind at ease. I know now that I made the right choice and I've had no contact with him in a week. I'm including a screenshot of these messages, because it shows his ability to flipflop from mean to apologetic, but I just wanted to warn you that they contain awful language, so read at your own risk. He is really freaking scary. Not surprised by your earlier posts that you would get these kinds of texts. Actually, sounds a lot like my exes texts to me, minus the obvious threats-my was not THAT stupid, he'd just say YOU BETTER DO/NOT DO (fill in the blank) and never say what he planned to do about it. The name calling (some of the same names), the blame, the obvious rage, the drinking, the apologies and sweetness and light afterwards, I hate you I love you. Blach!

PLEASE do not text this guy anymore-you will just feed his rage and obsession, put yourself at risk, and make it harder for you to move forward in a healthy way. Strict and complete NO CONTACT! Stay vigilant about your safety!

I think with these relationships it can be very hard to "see" it for what it really is. It kind of goes against everything we've been taught about how relationships work.

I'm glad you know now, you did the right thing by leaving. You did.

Sometimes knowing can bring its own kind of disturbance. I'm glad you got something good from it.

And I'm so sorry you have to work with this guy.

As I've found with my family of abusers, nothing is ever good enough when you are giving them everything, so of course nothing is going to be good enough when you establish boundaries and give them what is comfortable to you! Basically, NOTHING IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH to them!

He really sounds like a loser! So glad you feel you have made the right choice and feel validated rather than convinced by him! Good show! NC for sure!
