Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Well. . . . . I consider myself
pretty careful when I drive,
when I date and when I use
the internet.
I pay one bill on the internet,
but not my credit cards.
Over the last numbers of years
I've done a financial juggling
act, moving balances to lower
or no interest cards. So I've
acquired a handful of cards.
When this began happening, I
created a computer document on
all the bills I have to manage,
with the card numbers, phone
numbers and other data, so I
could manage payments without
being late or missing something.
The other day I got an email that
a payment on a card was coming
up. Yesterday, I checked my page
of card numbers and all the cards
in my purse. I didn't see the number.
Investigating further I clicked on the
link, and it all looked familiar. But
I still couldn't make sense of it. So
I called the bank from which it was
supposedly from. We went through
my list of cards. They said. . . . .
no. . . . you don't have a card with
that number and that email wasn't
from us. Forward that email to
our "abuse" department.
Apart from it being disturbing, there
was no lasting harm. There would
have been harm if I'd clicked on any
of the links I was sent to, and attempted
to pay this card on-line. Remember, as
I said. . . . I don't pay my credit card
bills on-line. I call the toll-free numbers
and process payments over the phone.
So. . . . temporary upset but no loss
or harm. Phew!
With anything you do, financial or otherwise,
be organized, be careful, even be suspicious.

Also please be aware that more and more scammers are texting us saying we've one a walmart, target, etc. gift card or that a bank has suspended our account. Do not open those either.
I called walmart the other day for an unrelated reason & the first thing on the greeting was "if you rec'd a text saying you won a gift card, please press ___" And just today I called another company and was greeted w/the same thing. Sadly, this is becoming more and more prevalent.
Thanks for the reminder llene. always be vigilant when online and don't volunteer any unnecessary info. It's too bad that when applying for a job online a ss number is required so be safe when applying and imo apply directly to the company that is hiring not any third parties.
Here is what I found out:
THe package would have arrived before the bill
Someone would watch my house and collect the package without my knowledge.
Bingo, they have just stolen using my info.
The FBI told me NOT to give the package to anyone claiming to be a corrier come to collect a mislabeled package. That is another way they get the merchandise.
The stress YES!!!! My ZERO libality credit card company kept the charge on my card until I was literally yelling at them that not being able to use my credit, having to make weeky hour long calls with oddles of proof that I did not make the charge, had returned the package ect, trying to get the charge reversed was NOT ZERO LIBAILTY!!!
What happened to customer service???
These scams not only masquerade as banks, but also Paypal is common, and even as Microsoft I have seen.
Basically no bank or PayPal or any company like that is ever going to "lose" your account information. Best thing to do if you get something like this is to forward it to the abuse account of the legitimate company (usuallt abuse@companyname.com)and then delete it. Never click on the links in these emails.
(Yes, I know "phishing.")
But the thing is, as most
of us have experienced,
abuse comes upon us
by surprise.
The good news is that
I've never paid my credit
cards on-line, so I wasn't
about to do that, in this
case.
Be very, very careful, in
all your dealings. Keep
careful boundaries.
