Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
But there are also good therapists.
If you don't look for a good one,
because you had one bad one,
you'll never benefit from the help
and healing that a good one could
provide you.
I hope you'll look around for a good one.
Please, please do.
Something similar happened to me in high school.
and that's about when I started my ED too.
I am just now getting a handle on it 20-some years later and my body has been harmed because of malnutrition.
Do look for another therapist. Tell any one you interview for the job up front about how your first therapist betrayed your trust. They have standards and rules they must adhere to. One is that they must keep your info confidential. When you have a professional to talk to, they essentially work for you. You have the upper hand. If they are not a good match for you, you let them go and move on.
I had a really hard time not seeing any type of counselor or therapist as an authority figure but it got a lot easier once I decided they were just other humans doing a job for me/with me.
They're out there and not every therapuetic relationship is a good one.
I'm sorry that your experiences have proven so unproductive.
I hope you'll consider trying again.
