Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why, I have been feeling off as of late.
My ex has not tried to contact me at all this month and that is not like him.
The last times we broke it off, he was almost obsessive over trying to get in touch with me.
I should be happy that he is not trying, right?
I should be at peace that he took my text saying we were not compatible basically and only attempted contact twice after and let me go, so why am I thinking he has some ulterior motive or he is just busy with an ex or a new victim right now and I should be on guard?
Why can't I just relax and not worry about this?

Maybe you instinctively feel that his silence is the calm before the storm? It's too soon to be complacent in your freedom from him. I expect you vigilance will serve you well sometime in the near future.

I agree with Far. Don't let your guard down.

Thank you both. I feel so silly compared to others who are either being harassed by their abuser or with them and on guard to their moods constantly. I guess it's just cause in 4 years he always comes back around, even when I have left quite abruptly just for my own sanity. I just can't shake the feeling he is punishing me with his silence and he wants the last word. Probably just nerves...

You are being harassed IMO...he's just doing it silently. He's taught you what to expect and now he's deviating from it.

In my experience it takes a really long time before they stop their tricks. Enjoy the quiet time but you are right, be on your best game right now.

I imagine it is just off pattern for him from the other times and I suppose I am a bit afraid that once I start feeling a bit strong and peaceful he will come charging back in somehow and ruin that.
