Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
is much less than what needs to
be done.
Close to ten years ago,
I began doing what
you're doing now. . .
looking for what's
already out there.
What I found didn't satisfy
me, so that's why I established
Healing Emotionally Abused Lives
(H.E.A.L.). I'm in Connecticut, so,
other than the H.E.A.L. website
(emotionalheal.org), the rest of
what HEAL does is run on-the-ground
support groups in Connecticut.
(Statistics have not been my
focus.)
In general, the researchthat's
been done, is seldom on
emotional abuse. This is
because it's harder to identify
than research down on physical
battery.
Emotional abuse is in the
literature. It's just generally
tougher to identify and to treat.
And when it comes to legal
issues around emotional
abuse. . . . . good luck.
The work I focus on now,
is to run support groups
and work one-on-one
with survivors. But I
also have a variety of
short videos on the
HEAL website.
But, bottled, if you find some good, academic, research I would LOVE if you would pass it on! I'd even love to discuss it with you if you wanted to talk about what you found.
This is one resource that I like, just got lots of good info, probably not anything new to you, but a good well rounded site.

As for useful links I have found, here are just a few that haven't already been mentioned:

http://www.ncadv.org/files/PsychologicalAbuse.pdf
http://www.counselingcenter.illinois.edu/self-help-brochures/relationship-problems/emotional-abuse/
And here's a "bonus" link, which doesn't include numbers or easily measurable facts, but was probably the most important read in my realization that my relationship wasn't what I originally thought it was:
