Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
IT has been going on for along time but I never understood his need for control until last night when he threatened me that I would lose my child if I ever left. I am so afraid that I stopped my group membership afraid he would find out. This is the only place I feel like I can vent my feelings. I am so afraid but I have started taking the steps to leave. I opened up a savings account getting some of the money to come out of my check no paper trail just online banking. I Feel stuck and scared what if he tries to take my little boy away from me? What will I do because that is the only thing that matters to me in the whole world. He got in my face last night because I dropped my son off at my moms and then I got hom 1 hr later he asked me if I was cheating on him and I told him no that I went to the store after dropping my son off at moms. HE said I was a bi.. and a whor... and I was worth nothing. I feel like my self esteem is in the toliet and I have nothing much to live for anymore except myson. He controls everything money, me he gets angry when he hears alot of noise. I try and keep the kids quiet because I do not want to make him angry. I asked my mom for help but she will not help me. I am thinking I may need to move where he will not find me. I am so afraid please god help me get strong and out of this hell I am in. I do not want to constantly look over my shoulder. I know now it will turn ugly if I leave and take my baby. Do you think the judge will take my little boy away from me and give him to that jerk. My son has seen him put his foot through a clock, almost jump on me. Help me please I am so scared. I am so afraid and confused. after he yelled and cursed me out he tried to apoligze...
His physical assaults, whether you are the target or the furniture, is symptomatic of the pathology of one who is abusive, so unless he has unlimited resources to counter any of your claims and accusations, there isn't a court that won't see through all that. You just have to be prepared for a battle, and the shelter can help you with those types of resources.
