Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Early 2009, I met a man online in a social site environment, there were forums and a chat and I also made some good friends there as well. This man and I talked one on one in chat, and then on an instant messenger.. He would always be very inappropriate to me and make sexual comments but I accepted that, every single time we talked he would ask me sexual questions and tell me to take nude photos.. I somehow found myself trusting this man, I felt pity for him and I wanted to fix him or change him or something.. I was also running away from other stresses in my life, so i didn't mind the sexual comments, He made me feel wanted and that someone actually liked me.. He lied to me from the moment we met, He would tell me all these lies and when I trusted him with personal information he told everyone else in our group, He would leave and drop all contact for weeks at a time, no IM, no phone, nothing.. I would freak out because he left and when he came back he would make me feel absolutely useless and like I was a horrible person.. He also tried to get my father arrested by saying my father was a rapist, He even called the cops on him and I feared he was going to send the cops to our house.. He had completely messed with my head, I felt like I wasn't myself when that was going on, he made me scared and unsafe and .. he made me feel like I was just for his amusement, Even though it was an online interaction.. It had an EXTREME effect on my mental stability...
Another story, I have a friend (I'm gonna call her Nicole), So nicole and me were friends for a long time, and she had this friend named Alex (Girl) and when nicole got mad at me she would have alex leave me texts/messages on facebook/myspace about how much of a "dumb b*tch" i am.. this went on for a long time and I always forgave nicole.. and just ignored alex.. Eventually nicole wasn't around a lot and I became friends with alex.. We were great friends, even closer than I thought we would be.. But then she would leave, like.. without any explanation.. She left, she would drop phonecalls, break plans (at the last second), She would lie to me about stuff and when I had a problem, when I was crying and needed someone she dropped the phonecall, She never apologized and she would come up with some excuse like she had to do something important, But as I was out and about I saw her with her boyfriend at the park instead of keeping her plans with me she had.. Whenever I tried to bring up what was bothering me about her behavior she would remind me that shes put up with all my stuff for so long, and helped me through all my problems and that when I would try to stop talking to her she would remind me that she was crying when I said I wasn't gonna talk to her anymore... She constantly left and then made ME feel like the victim.. Her boyfriend openly mocked me and she stood there and LAUGHED in my face, she never apologized later on either.. I was in denial for a long time that she was this way, I thought it was all my fault.. that I was too clingy or I was asking for too much, and it was my fault because I didn't really care for her boyfriend..
My name is Michelle, and I think I was emotionally abused but I'm still sort of thinking I'm just overreacting and it wasn't that bad..

I'm sorry for what you have been through.
I think if you read a bit around here you will discover that this type of self-doubt is a very common theme. Many of us have been told repeatedly that we were overreacting, too sensitive, delusional, paranoid, exaggerating, etc. Abusers create a great deal of self-doubt in us bc they need to justify their actions and they do so by a combination of ways, including making us feel responsible for the abuse and making us question whether it was really as bad as we felt.
I honestly think that if you found this board, you are almost certainly in an abusive relationship. Knowing how much minimization and denial go on in abusive relationships, if it got bad enough to bring you here, well then there's something wrong. Ykwim?
I second livndadrem's advice to seek a counselor who can help you. And come here and read and participate. That may give you a great deal of encouragement and strength and help you to feel you are not alone.
You were abused.
I'm sorry for your pain.
You're not overreacting.
Can you find a way to
get therapy with a qualified
counselor? It can help.
Please try. You need to
heal from those violations
and to build yourself inside
so you can live a confident,
healthy life, going forward.
Take good care.
Hugs and healing thoughts.
