Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
First I would discuss this with your family doctor. Schizophrenia is partially hereditary, your son may need treatment. OR he may be afraid from things that his father has said. In any case, his family doctor is the first stop.
In my opinion, we've still got a long way to go in the treatment of schizophrenia...
That said...we've come a LONG way from when your husband was a teen and probably showing his first symptoms.
With the right treatment, there's EVERY reason to believe that your son has a brighter future ahead than his father had.
But that's assuming that he's got it. And there's no way to diagnose him online. This is a largely treatable disorder. Like so many other things, it's best when it's caught early than late.
So see his doctor.
And remember that a fear is just a fear. Many of us fear wildly improbable things.
It's also worth educating him about schizophrenia. Even if just to help him understand what his father is going through. 1% of the world has it...so it's very, very common. MANY people get treatment and are able to live normal lives.

Beyond that....bond, bond, bond with him.
My kids are 13 and 15. I go in their rooms at night and rock and hold them...still.
Can you tell me what the nurse in concerned about that she wants him to go into the hospital?
If your son's been hospitalized before, then there's a reason. Perhaps he needs it again.
Do you have a link to your other posts? I don't remember your original situation...
