Did I believe that his uncle was a famous movie producer? Not really.

Did I believe that he would kill me or someone I love if I left him? YES!

Yep, I believed him when he said: we were best friends, he loved me, he wanted to marry me, he trusted me, I was important to him, that he respected me, etc. I also believed his smiles were genuine.

I believed all of his dark, ugly, narcissistic falseness.

When he told me he was trying to help me be a better person, a better cook, a better housekeeper, a better wife and lover.

But in the end I understand I was being conditioned, trained like a dog and treated like a child.

He himself always believed that he was only trying to help me, to save me from my stupid self.

That's what's so frustrating and infuriating...

He still believes that he's right and I'm wrong

But I'm not trying to convince him of my worth or prove my love to him any longer.

I now believe in me and who I am and that is enough.

Did I believe him? You bet I did.I believed him when he told me I was his soul-mate, he'd never felt closer to anyone else,that I was his best friend,etc, etc....And then I believed him when he told me I was always depressed, always negative, that everything was my fault, etc, etc .....Do I believe him any more? Not a Chance!!!! I only wish I'd figured him out sooner, before I let him destroy my self esteem and before he made me think I was crazy. But I'm headed down the right path now. It's a long rode but thanks to everything I'm learning here and in counseling, I'm going to make it.

Abusers are very clever at abusing..They know just what to do to control and manipulate...That's why they are abusers..If they were healthy and happy in theselves they would not abuse...healthy people can not fix abusers,they have to fix themselves..it's just the way it is?...!
