Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Other things that have worked well are Reiki, Reflexology, and other alternative therapies.
For me, I found meditation works wonders, guided meditation is a great way to start that if you've never tried it before. There are lots of them on Youtube and other sites. Shutting down the noise in your head is essential, then you can replace it with all the good things about yourself. Just putting myself on a path to rediscover myself, and who I am, has helped. Thich Naht Hanh's book titled "Anger" was immensely helpful to me in dealing with that.
Also, a qualified therapist is vital. Someone who is educated in abuse, not all of them are....so if and when you interview them, make sure and find out their experience with abuse.
I feel sure others will jump in here, with thing that have helped them.
All the best to you, sending you lots of healing energy.
I will check those things out. Now I have more time to spend hopefully at least online healing me, instead of trying to fix others. I really was bad for that on Facebook and it just drained me further down.
To be there for others is not a bad thing, don't get me wrong, but if you tend to focus more on others to avoid your own issues as they are hard to face somedays, you are not taking care of You.
I also tend to overthink, overanalyze and self blame..I would really like to get past this. I do not have internet at home and no cable either so that gives me more time to think and right now I need to not think, as my thoughts are negative.
I really do wish to find a good counselor as I have only had ones that made me not want to confide in or come back to. Thanks again.
When you give to others to the point you are neglecting yourself, you make a thief out of them.
I thought that was so important, for abuse victims, because we get so into that mode of taking care of everyone else, to try to keep the dogs at bay, that we forget ourselves. By the time I was out, I barely knew who I was....
