Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
You brought his message to you here and he told you F you and then said : ""please leave me alone" and wished all the best for your family or something like that, he was trying to mislead you. Typical abuser.
Winning is not playing their game and ignoring them.
You are not at a point where you have fully recovered , feeling complete and forgiven yourself, and he may convince you again that you deserve this treatment from him (deserved to be punished by him).
I know how hard it is, but every time you go back you go in deeper and it's harder to get out, because they don't give you clarity and make up excuses.
That restlessness will calm with time. You will find meaning. And that he is a very special case, not statistics.
I went through the same thing, but I can tell you that with time and doing the work on yourself, it does get better. I got away from my ex more than 6 years ago, went no contact 5 and a half years ago. But he still manages to contact me every now and then, which I ignore. Last year, though, he got me - he contacted me early in the morning when I wasn't quite awake yet so I responded. He started his crap about how awful I am, just to get a response. In the past, I would have bought into defending myself, but now I just don't need to. I shut it down then and there and didn't respond further, despite him then playing every card in his deck - nice, nasty, apologetic, accusing, back and forth, up and down. It used to drive me mental trying to keep up and understand his emotional gymnastics - but now I see it's not his emotions at all, he was using fake emotions like holding a piece of string before a kitten. I was the one doing the gymnastics trying to catch on to his feelings and make sense of them. Now I see it for what it is - not just in my head (which I think is where you are at), but now I also see it with my heart. It made me a little angry, but only because I could so clearly see what he was trying to do to me. But it didn't affect my sense of self any more, I didn't feel I needed to convince him of anything, because his opinion genuinely no longer matters.
You will get there too. In the meantime, be gentle with yourself, accept that your feelings and thoughts will be contradictory for a while, and that's ok. You will be ok. He will not matter. One day you will be able to see stuff like that and laugh at how pathetic he is. But please don't beat yourself up about the fact that day is not yet come.
The person who got hurt, the person who is going to work on herself is you. And you are going to grow from this.
I also sense relief in your words. It will grow stronger.
