Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Ran into an old high school person @ grocery store on Friday, we visited and then went to the Starbucks in the store and talked for about 2 hours. He has been divorced for 8 years, very nice, open and fun. After Starbucks we went to dinner taking 2 cars and he paid, (good sign). He said can I call you tomorrow being Saturday, Ok good. Came over for a BBQ and swimming, everything was going good and fine, nice, low key and fun. He said about 6 I need to run to the parmacy what kind of ice cream do you want, I wll be right back. I told him and GUESS WHAT I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. I don't understand, nor will I own this and I guess THATS A BIG RED FLAG. WTF. I don't get it.
His ACTIONS
CLEARLY
reveal him to be
a spineless coward
with a truckload
of tangled-up issues.
What's to "get?"
What he did
had NOTHING
to do with You.
Sometime, possibly
around the BBQ,
something triggered
his characteristic
DEFAULT setting,
(which is obviously
to DISAPPEAR
without a word).
You have
NO obligation
to "own"
anything about
his character-lacking
choice of action, which
was to slither silently away.
If you want to take
something away
from this, be GLAD
that his
truckload-of-issues
default setting
kicked in so
incredibly soon,
and that you didn't
waste a week,
a month, or
(god-forbid!)
a YEAR on
investing in
trying to be a
couple together
with this sorry
excuse for a
human being.
(I, sadly, spent
around fifty-one
weeks with
a guy who
looked great,
said all the
"right" things,
and then ultimately
revealed himself
to be nothing close
to a man of integrity.
You were FORTUNATE.)
Shrug, laugh
and enjoy the
rest of the
holiday weekend,
relieved that you
missed falling
into his roiling
snake pit of
DYSFUNCTION.
Thank goodness, as Ilene says, he showed himself early.

cousin (who lives
across the country
from me). HE is
a trustworthy man.
I know there are a
few more out there.
You just have to
SCREEN (for them)
REALLY CAREFULLY.
The guy who pulled
a disappearing act
with the line that he
was going out for

what kind did she

Thank you for telling us this - I don't feel quite so badly about my experience now. I didn't know it but I still had some residual low self-esteem until I read about this experience of yours. It's funny how sharing helps us shed our shame.
My date went out to get more for us to drink (which we did not need) and he never came back. I wondered why he was gathering up all of his stuff.......I figured it out after about 2 hours.....
