Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
your father is abusive
and your sister is devious
(probably in an effort to
protect herself from your
father's wrath).
Here's the good news.
You've reached your
"legal majority" which
means that in the eyes
of the law, you're an
adult and are the captain
of your own life, no longer
a child needing a parent.
I suggest the following:
Either speak to the counselors
at school about what your
home life is like or look up
the number and address of
your nearest women's resource
center and talk with someone
there.
If, sometime sooner than
later, you want to remove
yourself from the crosshairs
of your father's abuse, that
time might be soon upon
you.
Do you have any relatives
who would be sympathetic
to allowing you to live with
them, as you get your legs
under you to move on to a
life of your own?
Are you planning to get
further education, either
college or training for a trade?
Do you have funding for
that or can you find a way
to support yourself?
These are very grown-up
questions but unfortunately,
you have a dilemma. . . . . .
whether to remain under
the roof of abuse with your
dysfunctional family or to
move yourself out on your
own, sooner than you might
have had to, under different
circumstances.
Whatever you do, don't
take up with a controlling
boyfriend.
Sending you hugs and
wishes for maturity
and the wherewithal
to begin your life as
your own person,
living with satisfaction
and joy.
i understand. i was in the same situation. Reading what you say reminded me of myself but after I was an adult was able to escape with the help of a therapist. People at times asked me why did not I leave when I turn 18. But just like you it was easy said then done. I made it out but not mentally. I now have PSTD. I wish I could tell you it will be easy to leave but I cannot. I wish I could tell what to do but it is not that easy. You are in a hard place. Try to find a therapist that was the best move I did make and that safe my life physically. It seems like you have a plan.
