to get you support so you
won't have to "cope."

For the record, the only
way to live under the roof
of abuse, is to do everything
possible to "disappear," to
keep as low a profile as possible.

Abusers are predators on
the hunt for prey. If they
know you're around, they

Obviously, this is NO WAY

Things haven't escalated. At least not that I remember. Why do I have to live with this? This is not how I wanted to remember my childhood. Right now I am thinking back on all the times she's hit me. Is that normal to think about it? I remember one time we were fighting I started cowering because I didn't want her to hit me. She told me I was being stupid and to stop it. Did I do something wrong to deserve this?

You did NOT deserve this. No one deserves to be afraid in their own home or to be abused. and yes I think it is rather common to think about the abuse. I am so sorry you are in this situation. Please do everything you can to stay safe and get the help you need.

No. I don't have a way to call without family evesdropping then I'd be in huge trouble. I want to get help from a counselor. What kind of counselors/ groups can I join?

Do you attend school ? Talk to guidance counselor and ask to use the phone to call the help number.

But if I ask them won't they ask questions and all that stuff? I can't risk my mom finding out. She got on to me last year when I became depressed. She told me I really embarrassed her and she acted like it was my fault. Or like I was faking It.

They might ask you questions, but just say you want to call for support and you have no way to use the phone privately at home. If you don't want to talk more, I am sure they won't make you. And if you explain to them that it might cause more harm than good if they tell your mother because of the way she is, then I am sure they would not go to her without your permission unless they felt your life was in danger.

Please at least try the guidance counsellor. They are there to help and they should let you use the phone to call a support line if you tell them that is what you want to do.

I am just scared. I want to but I'm scared and afraid to get help. It makes me feel weak like I can't handle anything on my own. I try to hide it from people that I hurt inside. I don't want to though.

I know, honey. It's hard...everyone on here has experienced that at some point, so you are not alone :)

Just take your time. But know too that we and that counsellor, and the people on the end of Ilene's support phone number, are there to help you whenever you decide you want to reach out.
