Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
While the media is blasting out puff and fluff
on the royal wedding, here's what April means to me:
April is the month my spring bulbs reappear,
blossom and bloom.
April is the month I appeared, prematurely,
according to my narcissistic mother. She
wasn't quite ready in April. I'm not sure
she was ever, actually ready.
Though I'm not a seriously practicing Jew,
April is the month celebrated for the exodus
of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. On a
more recent note, April also marks Lincoln's
Emancipation Proclamation, abolishing slavery
in the United States.
On a way more recent note, April is the month
the concentration camps were liberated. Though
it would be seven years from then till I appeared,
the liberation of the camps is both a solemn and
joyous historical event for me. Sometimes I feel
like my soul was there in one of the camps, but in
a body that expired just before the liberation . . .
which re-appeared in this, my body, seven years later.

I love how you shared your Jewish heritage. I was reading about the Exodus with my children the other day, and it was powerful, the whole theme of coming out of slavery.
In Christianity, April is (usually) when Easter is, which also is about deliverance, rebirth and redemption.
And don't forget Earth Day, which is this Friday, for all us gardening, tree-hugging, folks. ;) Nothing lifts my spirits like planting something new in my garden. I even have a little tree I plan to plant this year, which my h wouldn't let me plant last year.
April really is a beautiful month.
