Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Hello everyone!
I decided to take a break and get to planning my escape. The good news is D-Day is just around the corner--I'm getting laid off and have no ties to this city by the end of the year.
The bad news--my car decided to crap out in September and it needs a new engine. The estimates I've been getting are at least 2 grand. I stil owe 2 grand on the car. I don't even have 2 grand at this point because I'm still paying for every freaking thing.
We're currently staying with one of my family members, and I plan to just take a vacation to visit my mom, and pretty much not come back. He even said that I can try to look for a job there and he'll be down in 6 months. He's not leaving the city because he still has to finish school.
He's still really horrible to me. Today I came home and cried because, even though my company is giving me the boot, they have me working on 2 projects and just gave me a third project today at the last minute. I don't even have time to look for another job or assess my transportation situation or anything until I officially get laid off. He pretty much laughed at me and berated me for crying, saying that it's just a waste of time.
I just feel like I don't have anyone in this world to talk to or help me. My family sucks and all they do is brush off what he says or does because he plays the helpless kid role. My husband wouldn't even take out the crash and my family member calls me AT WORK to complain about it. I'm like, sheesh, he's a grown man, TALK TO HIM. I just worry that if I leave and husband doesn't move our stuff that my family member might try to extract some rent from me. Dude is already shady and lied about how much the actual extra electricity and gas costs.
I feel like the closer it gets to me actually moving, the tighter this wormhole is. Like I can't get out. My family doesn't realize how they lie when they say when they will help. When it comes down to it, they look the other way. Especially since it's not physical abuse. :(

Well, some good news...I think I'm going to get some money in bulk (severance) at the beginning of the year...it would be enough to fix my car and probably pay it off. I might also coax my husband into getting a studio apartment he was looking at--he does have some rational times, especially after we fight. The only thing missing is a job, but I can work that out on my way out.
I'm so sorry for your struggles.
It sounds like if you begin by separatng the issues, you'll be able to pick them off, one by one.
Wherever you land, I suggest that you connect with social services and see if you can find some low cost counseling. That could be a source of support for you.
Best to you. Make sure you stay strong and whether or not you have a car, right away, point yourself in a healthy direction and keep moving.
