Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
First, you must understand that I have 2 cars and my husband stays home and cares for our son. He also gives me a guilt trip basically reasoning why he feels he must drive me everyday to my carpool meeting stop@~4:45am daily. It is a 15min round trip.
So the van leaves@5:05am, but I get there probably 20min early because for some reason "we must leave by 4:35am everyday".
I usually get up @4:10am daily and am ready by 4:30 to leave. Well, lately I've been hitting the snooze and we've been leaving closer to 4:40-4:45 (still plenty of time to stand around in the dark).
If we leave later than 4:25am I get a lecture and complaint the whole 7min there about how we must leave earlier. Well, today I hit the snooze but raced around like crazy to still leave by 4:25. Well, by the time I got in the car it was 2min later than his target time to leave and I was relieved there would not be another lecture today. Boy, I couldn't be more wrong. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! And why so early to stand around a dark parking lot to wait for 25-30min for my carpool? Because the timing of the traffic lights change in those 10min from the time we're supposed to leave and the time w've been leaving lately that he has to then stop at 2 our of 6 traffic light vs. catching all 6 light at green? And EVERY time the car clock does not read 4:35am when we leave I get a 7minutes lecture....Are YOU KIDDING ME?!
Trust me this is just a MILD example of the control & harassment I have to deal with daily. For me it starts again at 4:25pm daily when I have to take the bus home (remember 2 cars sitting at home in the garage) and arrive back at home at 5pm. Oh, and god help me if traffic is bad and I miss the bus and don't get home until 5:30.....

You have mentioned finances before, another option is just sell at least one of the cars, if you are not allowed use it anyway. And put the funds into an account that only you have access to.
